Back-to-School Jitters

The first day of school is exciting, but for many kids, it can also bring a few butterflies. A new classroom, new teacher, new classmates, and a different daily routine can feel like a lot. As parents, a little preparation can go a long way toward helping children head back to school feeling confident and ready.

Start by getting back into a regular sleep and morning routine a few days before school begins. Prepare backpacks and clothes the night before, start the morning with a good breakfast, and talk positively about the adventures ahead. Most importantly, remind your child that it’s completely normal to feel a little nervous and that you’re proud of them for taking on a new school year.

Movement Can Help Kids Build Confidence

Physical activity is another great way to help kids transition back into their school routine. Activities like Taekwondo, Parkour, Hip Hop Dance, Tumbling and Tricking, and Ground Fighting give children an opportunity to move, have fun, make friends, and work on important skills like confidence, focus, discipline, coordination, and perseverance.

At Team XSAMA School of Movement, our goal is to give kids a positive place to stay active while developing skills that can benefit them at school, at home, and in everyday life. Our movement programs offer families in the San Diego area a unique alternative to traditional kids sports by allowing students to explore several different activities in a fun and encouraging environment.

Whether your child is returning to school full of excitement or needs a little extra encouragement, remind them to be brave, do their best, and have fun. Here’s to a great school year filled with new friends, new adventures, and plenty of opportunities to grow!
